Socks raw materials

The raw materials used in socks production are rich in variety, which can be mainly divided into two categories: natural fibers and chemical fibers. Natural fibers include high-quality cotton yarn (such as combed cotton, organic cotton), wool (Merino wool), silk, etc. These raw materials have good moisture absorption, breathability and skin-friendly feel, and are often used to produce high-end socks. Chemical fibers mainly include functional fibers such as nylon (nylon), polyester, spandex (Lycra), etc. These materials give socks excellent elasticity, wear resistance and shape retention.

Modern socks industry generally adopts blending technology to scientifically match fibers with different characteristics. Common combinations include 82% cotton + 15% polyester + 3% spandex, or 70% nylon + 25% polyester + 5% spandex, etc. Special function socks will also add new materials such as antibacterial silver fiber, moisture-absorbing and perspiration-wicking Coolmax fiber, and warmth-keeping Outlast fiber. In terms of yarn specifications, the socks industry often uses 40S-80S combed cotton yarn, with denier numbers ranging from 20D to 200D, which can be flexibly selected according to season and purpose. The twist and tension control of raw materials is also crucial, which directly affects the comfort and durability of the final product.

With the advancement of science and technology, environmentally friendly raw materials are becoming more and more important. Sustainable materials such as recycled polyester fiber (rPET), Lyocell, and bamboo fiber are being widely used. These environmentally friendly materials not only have excellent performance, but also have a greener and lower-carbon production process, which meets the needs of modern consumers for environmentally friendly products.
